1. Introduction

Welcome to Request A Driver (“RAD,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights regarding that data.

This policy applies to the RAD iOS and Android mobile apps, the dispatcher web portal, and our website (reqadriver.com).

 

2. Who We Are

Request A Driver, LLC operates the RAD platform, connecting clients who need transportation services with professional drivers.

3. Data We Collect

3a. Precise Location Data (Including Background Location)

The RAD app collects your precise GPS location. This is fundamental to the service. Specifically:

• We collect precise GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, speed, and heading).
• Location is collected while the app is open (foreground) AND while the app is running in the background or the screen is off, during active runs.
• Background location collection runs for the duration of an active driver run and stops automatically when the run ends or the driver manually stops sharing.
• Why: To display real-time driver position on the client’s map, calculate live ETAs, and log trip routes.
• Retention: The live position is overwritten with each update (only the most recent point is stored). Route history is retained for 90 days after run completion, then permanently deleted.

3b. Account Information

• Name and email address (required to create an account)
• Account type (driver or client/dispatcher)
• Profile information you choose to provide

3c. Run and Trip Data

• Pick-up and drop-off addresses
• Scheduled run times and completion timestamps
• Run status history and driver-client associations

3d. Device and Technical Data

• Device type and operating system version
• Push notification tokens (to deliver run alerts and status updates)
• App crash logs and error diagnostics (collected only when the app crashes)

 

4. How We Use Your Data

• Provide real-time driver location to assigned clients during active runs
• Calculate and display live estimated arrival times (ETAs)
• Match drivers with client run requests and manage scheduling
• Send push notifications about run assignments, status changes, and arrivals
• Allow dispatchers to manage driver assignments and run scheduling
• Maintain trip records for billing and dispute resolution
• Diagnose and fix app crashes and technical issues

We do not use location data for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the RAD service.

 

5. Who We Share Your Data With

Driver location shared with:

• The client who booked the active run (real-time, during that run only)
• The RAD dispatcher managing the run

Driver location is not shared with other drivers, the general public, or any advertising or analytics platforms.

Third-party service providers we use:

• Supabase (supabase.com) – Backend database and user authentication. Stores accounts, run data, and location records on servers in the United States. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy
• Transistor Software Background Geolocation SDK (transistorsoft.com) – Provides reliable background GPS on iOS and Android. This SDK transmits location data only to our Supabase backend and does not share it independently with Transistor Software.
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) / Apple Push Notification Service (iOS) – Delivers push notifications. No location data is sent through push notifications.
• Leaflet / OpenStreetMap – Renders the in-app map display. Your GPS position is shown on-screen but not transmitted to OpenStreetMap servers.

All third-party providers are contractually required to use your data only as directed by us and to maintain appropriate security standards.

 

6. Data Retention

• Live location: Overwritten in real-time during a run. Only the most recent GPS point is stored.
• Run route history: Retained for 90 days after completion, then permanently deleted.
• Account information: Retained while your account is active.
• After account deletion: Personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.

 

7. Your Rights and Controls

Location permissions

• You can pause location sharing at any time using the in-app GPS controls during a run.
• You can stop location sharing entirely using the Stop button.
• You can revoke location permission in your device Settings app at any time (this will prevent app functionality as a driver).
• The app will never restart location sharing automatically after you have manually paused or stopped it.

Account and data deletion

• Email contact@reqadriver.com to request deletion of your account and data.
• We process deletion requests within 30 days.

Data access and correction

• Email contact@reqadriver.com to request a copy of your data or to correct inaccuracies.

 

8. Data Security

All data is transmitted using encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Data stored in our database is encrypted at rest. We use role-based access controls so only authorized personnel can access user data.

9. Children’s Privacy

RAD is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at contact@reqadriver.com and we will delete it promptly.

 

10. California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, opt out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information), and non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise your rights, email contact@reqadriver.com.

 

11. International Users

RAD is operated in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer.

 

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active users via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
